New Artist Of The Day
Back in 2006 then Jill Scott background singer V released his debut album "The Revelation Is Now Televised." The album as a whole was slept on hard by both critics and listeners and one of my favorite cuts from the album "Who Would I Be" went completely unnoticed. Project in the Works: "The Bodyguard Musical" (Heather Headley)
Tony and Grammy Award winner Heather Headley is slated to star in the West End musical production of Whitney Houston's debut acting role in "The Bodyguard." Though a updated film production has been rumored to be taking for with possibly Rihanna or Jennifer Hudson in the iconic role, the musical production is said to have a musical score different then that of the movie, though some key songs will still be included in the mix.
Headley has been involved it appears from the ground up with this musical as she was a part of a workshop for the production a few weeks back and is attached to another workshop taking place this January to flesh out the rest of the musical. Slated for a Fall 2012 debut in London, Thea Sharrock is set to direct and Alex Dinelarius has penned the musical book for the show. Time will tell how the musical shapes up, but with Headley in the lead role, I can't see why this show couldn't make a run on Broadway possibly in 2013.
